Dr. Dorothy Balaba Byansi has more than 16 years of experience in public health leadership, designing and managing national-level public programs including adolescent-friendly and sexual reproductive and maternal health. In addition to her role as Country Representative for PSI Uganda, she is currently the chairperson of the Uganda Family Planning Consortium and civil society organization focal person for Family Planning 2020.

Her experience includes designing and managing national family planning programs, adolescent-friendly reproductive health programs and programs addressing maternal health.

Dr. Balaba was key to establishing and developing one of Uganda’s leading social franchises, “ProFam,” which offers high quality and affordable reproductive and maternal health services to Ugandan women. She has excellent leadership skills, with demonstrated experience managing and motivating large staff and health provider networks to produce measurable results. she is a skilled researcher and has co-authored papers in peer-reviewed journals and has presented at several national and international conferences. She is a recipient of the International AIDS Society (IAS) ANRS award 2006.
